Decision to postpone changing Pay and File Date welcomed.
Association calls for in depth consultation process.
ISME, the Irish Small & Medium Enterprises Association, welcomed the decision announced by Minister Noonan today (20th November) to postpone changing the income tax Pay and File date until 2015. However, the Association warned that a comprehensive consultation process was necessary before any changes were made in order to minimise any negative impact on stakeholders.
According to ISME CEO, Mark Fielding, “Although we welcome today’s decision by the Minister to postpone changes to the Pay and File date, we are concerned about the potential impact on Irish SMEs that the future changes may bring. An earlier payment date, in particular, could have disastrous consequences for SMEs already struggling with cash flow issues. This is an important matter and a decision cannot be made in haste. The Minister must engage in a full consultation process to ensure that the needs of SMEs are protected.”
