A hot topic of late is the impending July deadline for the inclusion of the ‘CE mark’ on certain products.
This mark has been around for some time. However its usage will gradually be required in a phased program on a whole range of products in order to meet new standardization compliance legislation.
General principles of the CE marking
-The CE marking is added only by the manufacturer or his authorised representative.
-The CE marking is added to certain products under specific Community harmonisation legislation.
-By adding the CE marking, the manufacturer takes responsibility for the conformity of the product with all applicable requirements in the relevant Community harmonisation legislation.
-The CE marking is the only marking which indicates that the product conforms with the applicable requirements of the relevant Community harmonisation legislation.
