Action on behalf of boy, 3, who fell and fractured leg in Wexford playzone settled for €65,000
A boy who fell seven feet to the ground while in a playzone area four years ago has settled his High Court action for €65,000. Jamie Cummins was only three years old when he fractured his right thigh bone in the fall as he climbed steps to access a mid level three tier play and slide area at Wexford Playzone.

10-year-old girl who cut knee at funfair settles High Court action for €80,000
A young girl who fell cutting her knee as she walked on the boardwalk beside a ride at a funfair has settled her High Court action for €80,000. Leah Bonner was 10 years of age when she tripped and fell near the Waltzer ride at the fairground in Dungloe, Co Donegal. She suffered a laceration to her knee and the High Court heard today she has been left with a six-inch scar.

Woman who fell on way to toilet block in caravan park loses appeal over failed damages action
An elderly woman who suffered a serious arm injury after falling at a caravan park in Co Waterford has lost her appeal over the dismissal of her damages claim. Philomena White, now in her early eighties, had sued William Doherty and S & K Carey Ltd, as occupiers of Woodstown Caravan Park, over her fall on May 3rd 2010. She was aged 73 at the time.

Insurance crisis puts thousands of leisure, hospitality jobs at risk
Thousands of jobs could be lost in the next six to eight months unless Irish rules on minor injuries insurance claims are brought in line with the rest of Europe. The Alliance for Insurance Reform says its member companies in nightclubs, leisure clubs and childcare services have lost 400 to 500 jobs due to escalating insurance costs in recent years.

€25-a-week cleaning lady, 79, awarded €105k for fall down stairs
A cleaning lady who fell down a stairs at the Blackrock Market in Dublin fracturing her arm has been awarded €105,000 by a High Court Judge. Mary McKenna who was 74 years of age at the time of the fall on a wooden staircase was working three hours one morning a week at the market for €25 a week.
