CHANGES TO MINIMUM WAGE
Please note that as and from 1st July 2011 the National Minimum Wage rate will increase back to €8.65 per hour from the current existing rate of €7.65. Consequently, the minimum hourly rate of pay will also increase accordingly for those under the age of 18, for individuals who are employed in their first employment over the age of 18 and those in recognized training over the age of 18. In summary the following rates will apply from July 1st.
Employee Minimum Hourly Rate of Pay July 2011
Experienced adult worker €8.65 * (100%)
Under age 18 €6.06 *(70%)
First year from date of first employment over age 18 €6.92 * (80%)
Second year from date of first employment over age 18 €7.79 * (90%)
In structured training or study over age 18, undertaken in normal working hours
1st one third period €6.49 * (75%)
2nd one third period €6.92 * (80%)
3rd one third period €7.79 * (90%)
NB. Each one third period must be at least one month and no longer than 12 months
